Definitions

Childcare – Is an Umbrella for all daycare, preschool, grandparents, family members, lady down the street, nannies (and many more) and parents alike. We all teach and learn from our children. The fight for the rights of childcare shows that just like daycares cost money parents at home put out a lot of money too.

Licensed Care - private daycare/non-profit care

Parental choices- a term to be used to allow a parent the opportunity to have a financial freedom of the choice of licensed care, regulated care, relative/guardian care or at home/parent/guardian care/neighborhood care

Regulated care – non-profit daycare/for-profit care

Relative/guardian – any relative, grandparent, aunt/uncle, family friend providing ongoing daily care for a child/children in their home.

Estimated Cost for a non-profit daycare in Ontario is about $18,000 a year. This means on a full subsidy the government covers all costs involved with the daycare space, daycare worker income and daycare cost for the family.

A cost of a stay at home parents has not been fully established yet (we’re working on it) but the estimation can be anywhere from $10 to $25 a day. If you factor in the 8-10 hours your child is at home with you, the food, toys, utilities etc.. will add up. The CCAC does not currently recognize this as a burden on families, due to the excuse of “obviously you can afford to stay at home”.
We are here to prove that most parents cannot afford full costs of daycare nor the high price of staying at home.

Our arguments for both at home, daycare and everything in between will be based on financial status of the parents and the Canadian economy as a whole. Many studies have proven that parents are not financially able to properly childcare their own children but instead of the NFCA offing every child in Canada a daycare spot for free we will advocate to enhance parental rights financially to make their own childcare decisions.
Our motto is parents know what is best for their children.
